Little Miss Higgins
Born in Brooks, Alberta, and raised in Independence, Kansas, Little Miss Higgins writes poetic lyrics while strumming the guitar. Old-time country, blues, jazz, and folk is characteristic of Little Miss Higgins’ technique.
Little Miss Higgins is a stage name for Jolene Higgins. A friend who nicknamed Jolene as Little Miss inspired the name. After using Little Miss Higgins on a gig poster, the pet name lingered.
Influenced by artists such as, Memphis Minnie, Billie Holliday, and Dolly Parton, Little Miss Higgins’ country blues songwriting is inspired by the great artists of the genre. Her 2007 blues album Junction City won a JUNO, a Maple Blues Award nomination, a Western Canadian Music Award, and an Indie Award.
