Artist Spotlight at the Rodeo Winona Wilde
Winona Wilde is the pseudonym of Iraqi - Canadian alt-country and folk songwriter and musician Noosa Al-Sarraj. Wilde considers herself a post-structuralist cowgirl singing Americana music in honky-tonks.
These last four years Wilde travels solo singing her blues soaked folk music. Wilde’s third album recorded in Toronto - Wasted Time is five months old with an October 6th release.
In 2017, Wilde wins the Kerrville NewFolk Award in Texas and the Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award in Ontario, and in 2015 she wins British Columbia Musician Magazine Songwriting Award.
Wilde compares her sound to Townes Van Zandt, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, and Tom Waits. She will be back touring for her new album starting in April.
