Artist Spotlight at The Rodeo: Civil Wray
From Toronto, Canada, Civil Wray revamped her sound with her latest album, Civil Wray.
Civil Wray, released by AbleJane Records on May 26th, merges pop rock with jazz and latin music.
Civil Wray was previously blueVenus, a stage name for Andrea de Boer. After touring the world as blueVenus, Civil Wray wanted to change her sound.
Civil Wray’s music producer Chris Stringer has worked with Jill Barber and Timber Timbre. Chris Stringer fused indie rock, country, latin pop, and soul to create a rare and uncommon intonation for Civil Wray’s darkened voice.
See Civil Wray at the HUFF festival at The Carlton in Halifax, Nova Scotia on August 28th, and at Baba’s Lounge in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island on August 29th.
