Artist Spotlight at The Rodeo: Rick Estrin and The Night Cats
Rick Estrin is a harmonica player, songwriter, and blues and rock ‘n’ roll singer from San Francisco, California. Rick Estrin’s The Night Cats are Lorenzo Farrell, J. Hansen, and Kid Andersen.
Born in 1949 and beginning a professional music career in 1967, Rick Estrin learnt the harmonica at age 15. Rick Estrin’s love for the blues started at 12 years of age when his sister introduced him to Ray Charles’ The Genius Sings the Blues.
The first album Rick Estrin and The Night Cats issued was Twisted, their 2009 album with Alligator Records. On August 18th, Rick Estrin and The Night Cats remained loyal to their record label and released their latest album, Groovin’ in Greaseland, with Alligator records.
