Had a great long day in Melbourne, with the fab Tori Forsyth, Aleyce Simmonds and Lachlan Bryan and one of his Wildes. They are all truly at the top of their game. Tori is about to release a huge album. Aleyce won her first long awaited Golden Guitar and she is working on a new album and Lachlan is going from strength to strength with a new album due in the next week.
I will be going to see Michael Waugh in Moe just after work on Saturday .I am looking forward to seeing and hearing him again. His current album is just so incredible. There will be some other artists on the bill that I haven't heard yet and I am told that they are pretty exciting.
I have done a few reviews lately, There are so many great artists releasing albums and doing gigs at the moment. We are spoiled for choice. The music industry is in a healthy state - alt country and blues wise.
Many of us fans are having to choose from 2 or 3 festivals or about 10 gigs each weekend. A lot of stuff is on Thursday and Fridays in Melbourne which is a bit hard for me to get to, but I will be trying to get down for a few weekend gigs. There are some local gigs coming up which should be great.
I have some gig reviews and a few album reviews to do this week. We are not getting a lot of International Country acts to our shores at the moment, I guess the distance and the growing costs of transporting such huge equipment and crews long distance is tough on the budget and time frames.
It has allowed, however, the local musos to perform more and to expand their horizons. We are having a growing amount of our artists going overseas to try their luck as well. I will have lots to report on over the next few weeks, so stay tuned.
For now, turn up the stereo or the radio and play that music loud.
