Hey everyone I hope you are all enjoying the summer and the fantastic music that’s on offer in Ireland at the moment.
I was delighted to be asked to join the Aiken Promotions Team at the Marquee in Cork last Saturday evening where I had the chance to meet and greet some fans, and tell them about the Harvest Country Music Festival that’s happening in Enniskillen and Westport on 26th and 27th August.
With 2 dates, 2 venues, 4 stages and over 40 acts not to mention the Harvest Cafe as well it’s going to be a fantastic weekend. Check out the Harvest Country Festival Face book page for further details.
Ruaile Buaile, Jake Carter and Nathan Carter treated the Marquee audience to a fantastic night of musical entertainment. It was great to catch up with them all and I look forward to bringing you an interview with Jake very soon.
I’m also delighted to say that I will be joining the Aiken's team again this Saturday at the Iveagh Gardens in Dublin, where Ruaile Buaile and Nathan will be performing. If you happen to be there make sure you drop over and say hi, enter the Harvest competition and grab a free key ring.
Michael English fans in Newfoundland Canada will be treated to an early Christmas treat this year as Unicorn Promotions presents an Irish Christmas with Michael on 12th and 13th December.
For the Blues and Roots Radio listeners who are unfamiliar with this fantastic Irish singer, songwriter and entertainer this will definitely be a date for your diary. Michael hails from Castledermot in County Kildare and grew up in a musical family. He started playing piano and studying classical music from a very young age and at the age of eleven he made his national debut on Irelands popular Friday night programme the Late Late show. He studied at the Hennessy School of Music in Carlow, Dublin’s Royal Irish Academy of Music and then began to perform on the Irish Country Music scene. Michael has released multiple studio albums – Dance All Night, This is Michael English and Best of Friends, and can be seen regularly at dance venues across Ireland.
He has won numerous country music awards and I was lucky enough to meet him at the Sunday World Music Awards in Mullingar this year where he won Male Vocalist of the Year 2017.
One of my favourite videos from Michael was his recording of Tuam Beat
I’m really looking forward to his new DVD coming soon. The 22nd July 2017 will see Michael English fans descend on the INEC in Killarney where he will record this new DVD at a concert with his fans. Bracken Entertainment will be recording the footage and knowing Mick it will be a fantastic recording.
More details can be found at
Michael played the Dublin Country Club venue The Red Cow on Thursday 13th July where he played to a full house, and as always delighted fans with his musical talent.
I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge Howard Myers and Kathy Cullinan along with all their family and staff for continuing to bring brilliant country acts every Thursday to this fantastic venue. I have been to this venue on many occasions and have been warmly welcomed by Kathy and Howard, so thank you for your hospitality. I’m looking forward to next years awards already and wish Hugh O’Brien every success with his new app.
I’m starting to run out of time again already so a quick mention for two new releases, one this week and one on its way.
First up is Lisa McHugh. Lisa treated us to a fantastic version of ‘Play me the waltz of the angels’ earlier this year and it has reached over 5M views already on face book, this week she released her new video ‘Girl with the Fishing Rod’ which has reached over 126k views on face book this week alone !!!
Lisa is also having great success with her LTV show on face book, where this week she had Nathan Carter as a guest. Tears rolled down my face as I laughed watching them playing the game Speak out – highly recommend watching that interview !!
I would like to congratulate Lisa on her success and wish her the best for the future. I hope to bring you an interview with Lisa soon. You can check out Lisa’s LTV recordings and other news including tour dates on https://www.facebook.com/lisamchughofficial/
