Hello from me to you !
I guess the big news this week is that i have a new name for my show ! ... and then there are the JUNO nominations announced on Tuesday for the JUNO Awards on March 25th in Vancouver.
Seriously though, I have a new name for my show which I'll tell you about further into this weeks blog, I will be featuring on my playlist some of the artists that have been nominated for a JUNO in the Traditional Roots Album Of The Year Category and
The Contemporary Roots Album Of The Year Category, so that's where we will start.
I think there were some outstanding albums that did not make the nomination list, Dave Gunning & JP Cormier for one in the Traditional Roots Award list, but there are ten judges in each category, it's a hard task to pick a short list.
A big congratulations to all of the nominees in each category, it will certainly be a hard job to pick one album from the 5 here. An even bigger congratulations to all the artists who submitted an album, everyone is a winner and it has been an outstanding year past for releases.
The fact that each list is so strong demonstrates what great shape we are in for the future with many young artists making the cut.
The Blues category was also strong, but I also have to say there were some releases worthy of making the cut that were not on the list, and no female artist made this years final selection, I found that strange, but again, 10 judges and a hard task.
Congratulations to all.
Former JUNO winner, Hamilton's Steve Strongman released a fantastic album as did strong contenders Monkeyjunk from Ottawa.

Under The Radar Radio Show
I have a new name for my show ..... formerly Wee Dan's Hoose radio show now called
' Under The Radar '
The format remains the same, the name change is to more accurately represent the type of music played on the show. We play independent artists that are not mainstream and are under the radar of most people, we intend to continue supporting those artists in many genres by giving them a voice through the show.
We have been airing the show now for almost 6 years and what started out as a Celtic music show has morphed into a showcase for many genres that come under the Blues & Roots umbrella, from Americana, Folk, Blues, Roots, Alt Country, Celtic and everything in between.
We hope you continue to join us for the show on www.BluesandRootsRadio.com
Show airing times and days remain the same.
