I had a gig free weekend last weekend, and it was a shame as there was so many great gigs on. After 3 weekends in a row of music, I had to stop and do some stuff around the house and I worked Saturday. I will be working this Saturday Morning too, but then will be off to see one of the best singer/songwriters in this country, Paddy McHugh with Mitch Power and others in Melbourne. Probably not staying the night, but I am not sure. We will see how things go. My headache weekend is next weekend when folks are actually appearing closest to home, and I will have to juggle. Such is the dilemma - albeit it a pleasant one - of having so many fabulous acts on at the same time. There are gigs everywhere in Victoria. For the smallest geographical state in Australia, it surely is the biggest with quality and quantity of musicians.
The Central Coast Music Festival is on this weekend. My folks lived there and I lived there for a big chunk of my life but it is virtually reduced to one day now. Does one day make a festival? Some beaut acts on though.
*****Main Event Line Up – Sunday 12 August******
10.00am – BRAD COX
11.00am – ANDREW SWIFT
11.45am – Aussie Whip Cracking Kids Performance
12.00pm – GRETTA ZILLER
1.00pm – PETER DENAHY
2.00pm – HOMEGROWN
2.45pm - Aussie Whip Cracking Kids Performance
3.10PM – ADAM ECKERSLEY BAND
I used to go when it was a two day fest and the pubs also had things on. Not sure whether this is a festival or just a good concert day. All of these acts are wonderful. Note that three of them are from Victoria!
I have a few reviews coming up, 4 in fact: Don Costa, Graeme Connors, Dean Perrett and an American artist on the blog this week.
This month is nuts for gigs. I won't be able to get to them all. Would have loved to have gone to Taste of Tamworth in Moe and Kasey Chambers not far away but I am going to catch Kristy Cox at Sale which is not too far away and she has my mates The Weeping Willows in support.
In the next few weeks, there are lots of releases happening. It is getting very exciting.

Coming soon, heaps of reviews, lots of gigs and some special features. I will be back on air very soon, with some cool interviews with some awesome folks.
One of the best things happening in Melbourne is the wonderful Mantra Cafe, Studio and performance space and function centre in Yarraville, which The Long and The Short of It have built and run for Indie Artists of all genres. It is picking up and becoming very popular. I did a review of this a few months ago on my blog. check it out on CountryAs (before it went to Cowgirlup). Lots of cool things happening.
The Long And Short of it
Have a good week.
