Hats Off, the mid year festival in Australia's Country Music Festival was awesome. I hit the ground running on Thursday night with Sandra Humphries on her farewell tour, with Anthony Taylor and Alby Pool. Sandra is considered by many as the Queen of Trad Country Music in Australia. She proved it with up and coming could be the biggest star in the world, Anthony and old stager, Alby. We will miss her. Too young to retire...she will be back!
Friday, I caught up with my best friend and then Don Costa...Tamworth is not Tamworth without Don. In July, it is Don at shopping World. He has a new album out which I will be reviewing soon. He plays a lot of trad country. I will be reviewing his new album soon. I then went on to TSA songwriters at Tamworth City Bowling Club where I saw Kylie Adams Collier and Brendan Smoother. I had to leave Brendan Smoother to see Brendan Smoother..I know, but that is Tamworth.
Awesome evening with the two Brendans, at Carmen's Italian Restaurant with Brendan Smoother and Brendan Nawrocki. Saturday brought together Melissa Robertson and Becci Nethery, then mine host, Wendy Wood and then on to the young ones, Kora Naughton and her album launch with Rory Phillips and lots of other young stars. Then on to Brad Butcher and Aleyce Simmonds, but unfortunately, I had to leave early and did not see Aleyce, but I will see them both again in Victoria soon.
Then on to see Luke O'Shea with the most amazing 3 hour concert with dinner at North Tamworth Bowlo. He is the best. James Stewart Keene was there and he is one of our most underrated stars.
Sunday off to see Sally-Anne Whitten at Hopscotch Cafe with her hubby Alwyn Aurisch...and a couple of radio crosses on Friday and Sunday. then off to Allison Forbes birthday bash with some awesome folks, including Allison, Jess Holland, Johanna Hemera, Sarah Byrnes Sal and Al and lots of others.
I finished it off with mine host, Wendy Wood having a fun jam session.
I missed a few, but when you have 6 or 7 great gigs on at one time, it is hard.
Off to see some good stuff in the next few weeks.
