The end of the year is looming and there are only a trickling of new releases as folks get ready for the biggest festival in Australia, which is Tamworth! Riley Catherall released an EP this week which I will be reviewing soon. There are still people touring though they are slowing down and doing gigs closer to their homes before the January madness. Awards season continues with the ARIAS tonight in Australia which is not always a true indication of the great talent out there in all music genres (sort of our Grammys). One of the best things though is that Kasey Chambers will be the youngest female ever entering into the hall of fame and she's country. She's not rock, pop, hip hop or whatever they call music these days. Well done, kid.
There are a lot of debates going on around at the moment...there usually is leading up to Tamworth. I am looking forward to the festival so that I can catch up with lots of mates and some great new music that I want to showcase up there.
Everyone is posting their gigs now...always lots of clashes and ones that you have to toss a coin for - shame that they are all on at the same time, but that is how it goes. There are a few big gigs in Melbourne leading up to Christmas and then there is a small break before January hits us.
There are some big issues that I will be tackling in the next few weeks.
Tamworth will host the 40th Anniversary of Starmaker in January. Many big stars started there...not always winning or even finishing in the top 3. Keith Urban featured, as did many others.
Catch you with some big stories soon, meanwhile, enjoy the music.
