Great weekend with one of my favourite Indie Artists, Susan Lily at The Mantra. Susan is my sista from another mista and an awesome singer songwriter. She appeared at The Long and Short of It's very cool venue and we all had a great time, with awesome music and laughs and great food! There is so much happening in the world of Indie Country Music at the moment. Susan showcased her two albums and her EP and did a few interesting covers. She reckons that most songs have country elements, once you strip them back. It was food for thought and could lead to an interesting debate.
I have a wedding on this weekend, so I won't be going to any gigs, but next weekend is huge with three major gigs and then there is a massive run with so many, festivals and albums being released as well as the announcement soon of the Golden Guitar nominations.
Morgan Evans released his new album in this last week as well as a very cool collection of Alt. Country Music. The Weeping Willows proved again to be one of the hardest working acts in Alt. Country with another week full of gigs. They have been supporting international acts as well as appearing at festivals and they have travelled many countries this year.
Troy Cassar-Daley, one of Australia's favourite sons, is set to release an album of his greatest hits on Friday, featuring about 42 songs...that must be a record!(pun intended). Veteran, Evelyn Bury and the man with the golden tonsils, Justin Standley released a version of the Emmylou Harris and Mark Knopfler hit, Love and Happiness for you and it is a cracker of a verson.
Looking forward to a huge few weeks ahead and I am starting to plan my Tamworth for January. All good, very exciting times ahead. Aleyce Simmonds announced today that she is hosting a special Tamworth TV programme.
The Tasmanian awards were announced on the weekend, celebrating state winners and national winners.
Congrats to all of them.
